Mobile Enterprise - the Final Frontier. These are the voyages of Sun's Mobile Enterprise Platform (MEP). Its five-year mission: To explore strange new devices. To seek out new cell phones and new services. To boldly go where no mobile enterprise sofware has gone before.

Sun Gives Enterprises a New Java ME Option
Here's a quote:
The platform is based on open standards, and is built around Sun GlassFish Enterprise Server, MySQL and Java ME. It provides two-way data synchronization with security, device management and offline access features for enterprises with Sun servers in their infrastructure.Ahh, ahhhhh, ahh-ahh, ah, ahhh... Yes, the Enterprise is very important to Java ME technology. It's got phasers, photon torpedoes, and tons and tons of cash to spend on ways to sync your data to your Java ME cell phone.

messing in the mix (blogs.sun.com)
i downloaded my javafx sdk preview01 hope you all did- if there's anyone reading this blog apart from john bains "hello", oh; i wonder if john has even bothered to downloaded the sdk yet, i should ask him next time i see him, anyway. i guess you all know i tend not to like blogging, i was asked me why once, well its because i start writing one thing and get distracted and want to do something else that's more real; for instance lets look at an average day for me.
well after saving the world the night before (long story that involves volcano's, damsels in distress, and hoola hoola girls and a number of other exciting things you could easily make a movie about). i: wake up, email, work, eat, pub, drink, eat, home, wowage, sleep, repeat.
i guess the first bits are not so interesting to readers on this blog, so lets just look at 'sleep'- no 'work' yes work *nods*- i do a lot of that *waves at manager nandini*, none stop work work work, so much so the 'sleep' bit should be in a very small font maybe even using webdings (yes not wingdings because that's not 2.0).
work; someone asked me once, what apps i use in a normal day, well here's my doc:
i added a few extra to look cool (power of the blog). as you can see i do have Aquamacs Emacs- you have to have that or the super geeks at sun wont speak to you, its sort of a security handshake "emacs for the win!", "anyone no how to get this app to load?, umm boot?, launch? darn rumbled!".
so anyways what shall we do today? well i done the wake up bit (as you can see), and all the email, same stuff in the email: very interesting people talking to other interesting people, about stuff they have already talked about the previous week, so that's done. so what shall i work on today, maybe recreating the world, a cool demo i think i'll make using javafx, i guess it sounds like a complex task 'recreating the world' and all that, but its my world so shouldn't take to long :)
first we want a 'world', so lets go find one *goes to look for earth*. we need a flat one, one that shows all them little islands and stuff, a globe is no good at this point.
ok now to do some photoshop to just make the colors harsher.
perfect its now all bright, yes looks horrid, but i'm not planning on using this map in the final thing, its just going to be a guide for my world, so next up lets go all 3d, wwwooo!
here's a simple sphere to get started with so we can place our texture of the earth onto its surface, not to hard that surely? there we go:
cool; now the tricky bit of the day. lets see how long this takes, i'll post this entry now and get to cutting the water out of the surface of the sphere using the polygon cutting tool. lets hope i don't get any phone calls or distractions. see you on the other side. chop chop chop, splish, splash, splosh.
